Smelling of roses...

This morning was my first day back at the gym since before Christmas.

Actually, it was exactly December 22nd, so the receptionist blurted out very loud!

A fraud! That's how I felt.

I got changed and quietly slid into the pool.

"Hello, Cream! Happy New Year!" One of the regulars screamed. She never misses a thing.

Actually, it's Merry Christmas!" I bubbled under water.

"And what's your excuse, then?"

Before I could begin to embroider a feeble reason for my absence, an old dear floating behind me, came to my rescue:

"You haven't been in since you slipped on the ice and hurt yourself, have you?"
Mon Ange Gardien!

I looked back at the younger woman and smirked:
"See, there you are! That's my excuse!"

Some people seem to land in s... and come up smelling of roses.
The drawing shows that I have reluctantly started back on my salad diet!

Hey you've got an angel in your garden!

That must be why you are eating leaves...

Okay languages never were my best thing...

I'm sure lots of people would love angels in their gardens, Caro!
It is "guardian angel"...:0)

Love the drawing, so bright. I could just turn around and hug little angels that save me like that.

Oh I've started on a diet too. I've lost 3 little bitty pounds in 4 weeks. I was hoping to have lost it all by now. Oh well, slow and steady wins the race.

Christine, you are right. Not many people come to my rescue like that.

Very good, Mary! The slow way is the only way to lose weight and keep it off!
I am eating lots of fruit I get already cut from the supermarket. Too lazy to do it myself.

congrats and encouraging words (fill in the blank).

I can't diet. The minute I think I'm on a diet I feel depressed and deprived and I begin gaining weight.

So I'm not on a diet. I'm just "fixing" the way I eat. Tonite it's stewed bison, onions and shitake on a huge bed of warmed chopped napa cabbage.

It's slow - but 15 pounds down since Dec 10, despite the enormous stress of the last month!

Well done getting back into it. I've not been swimming for months.... no yoga for even longer.... cycled twice since Christmas....pretty feeble, huh?

Hayden, stewed bison! Wow! Sounds amazing!
When I am stressed, I eat and drink a lot. But my new diet is good. Lots of fruit for breakfast, a good meal anytime between 1pm and 3pm and then lots of fruit again in the evening. Mind you I only started last week.

Lettie, you've done yoga! I could do with that to calm me down a bit. But it would have to be fat-free yoga!

(re: bison - it's leaner than chicken and it's grass-raised, so I get to feel indulged while taking care of myself.)

Welcome back too.

Cut fruit from the shops.... Cream, that IS bad....

In your picture, what is that showing under his belt?!

I wondered if someone would ask: his belly!
Yes, cut fruit from the shop.
I find that if I make my own there is always too much. A £1 pack is just enough. And I also lazy...

Well like it or not Atkins won the latest diet test..but actually moderate helpings and increased excercise are the key elements ..a mindnumbing simple equation that my brain seems to completely reject...and of course ingesting enough H2O to convince your body that you don't have to sock away some fat for a rainy day is also essential...
I seem to have the right genes for tight jeans.

Go For It!
