Nuts about squirrels...

Every morning at around six, I am waken up by a cacaphony of bird songs...

I love listening to birds singing in the local park any time of the day... But at six in the morning, right outside the window!!! Come on!!!

So yesterday morning, I woke up, opened the window and was about to film and record the racket when the following happened.

Please excuse the shaky camera action. I am only a budding SpielBird...

Can you hear the noisy birds in the background?
And that magpie that came to taunt the neighbours' nasty cat...

I wish I had been ready to catch the end. The tiny squirrel was very brave to do a runner.

Wonderful, Mr. Spielbird! Love the vid. beautiful cat, even if he is doing what cats do. Very good catch to get the shots so early in the AM!

I love being lightly wakened by the outdoor noises - except when its a bus or a party next door. when the birds start they rouse me, then I settle back in happily (ok thats wierd) knowing the sun has returned and its a new day - and I'm still snug in bed!

Queenie the First! Wow! Lucky for some, yep!

Mary, that's when they wake me up except that this morning I slept in. I woke at 10! First time for a long time!

Hayden, I can imagine you turning over, picking up a book, a cup of tea and just staying in bed... On Sundays...

Amazing footage well caught and also synchronous for me - this morning I was sent an out of focus photo of a squirrel that had gone into my friends house and sat on the edge of the loo!

What is getting into them?

Akela, the little thing was so brave! I used my NEW camera...and then edited the takes with windows movie maker.

Caro, it was continuous but I shortened it a bit.
I think squirrels are going nuts!!!

Squirrels are so funny and very brave indeed. I love watching them. There's a few rabbits in the area and sometimes I watch them early in the morning going to town on our garden. I figure, I enjoy watching them, let them munch, I can share.

Christine, the first time I saw a squirrel in real life was in Edinburgh right on Princes Street, running from one tree to the next.

Bee, great that you like the birdsong but I wouldn't feel homesick at the moment because it's freezing!

It is very peaceful DC, with the odd car passing by.
