New camera...
This morning, I received my new camera. A Sony Cybershot like the one used by Merisi.

Taking great photos is not just about owning a good camera. Anyone can point and shoot. It takes great taste, skill and art to take photos that stand out from the rest.
Sometimes one can enhance dull but interesting photos using various programs. I took the above photo just to test the new camera. The reflection of clouds on the water. I was about to delete it when I decided to doctor it using Corel Painter.
I love the sea. The incessant movement of the water, the boats, the sounds of seagulls.
Most of our customers ask for window tables to watch the yachts bob up and down while dining.
Al fresco dining is a luxury that does not occur very often up North and it is understandable that one ray of sunshine brings diners flocking to the tapas bar terrace.

al fresco dining is something I adore doing - and near the water, it's heaven! And now, with Jake in tow, it's the easiest. The challenge is that, for all of the wonderful restaurants in the area, few have outside seating. SF is just too cold too much of the time, alas......
Years ago I had a scrumptious lunch of homemade soup and salad in Sonoma County, on a tiny patio under a wisteria tree in full bloom. A heady experience!
I do not like dining al fresco and I avoid it as much as possible. So many restaurants in Montreal have terraces that it's sometimes difficult to avoid. I don't like wind blowing my hair in my face or insects flying near my food. This is probably one of the biggest reasons why I don't enjoy camping either.
I love, love, love al fresco dining. It's too warm to do it often here, but whenever we eat out - we'll go fresco.

I love eating alfresco, especially in italy and the south of france. in england, I avoid it.
Al fresco eating is one of the joys of living on a Mediterannean island. In fact life in general takes place outdoors here much of the year. I like the way our homes are designed so that outdoors is just another room. From now until maybe October a table outside is always the choice when eating out too.
Love the picture Cream. I use a small Olympus, MWM has an all singing all dancing camera and, whilst there is no doubt about the difference in quality, you are right a good eye is most important.
I love eating al fresco,I would do it every day. I did a post about it not so long ago. If only we had the weather here. ((sigh))

I do like alfresco eating if the weather is warm, there's nothing better. If its breezy or worse I like sitting in, by the window.
Keep up the artwork and enjoy your new camera. I will have to look out for the Coral Painter software.

Without a doubt, even when the weather isn't great el fresco everytime. When we go to the coast at the weekend,if its to windy to cook on the beach,I'll do rolls or salad, anything and sit in the car watching the waves dance on the sand. Oh I hate wishing my life away but I wish it was Friday...

Africa is not a place to dine al fresco. They say in your first year in Africa, when a fly falls into your beer, you call for another beer. In your second year, you fish the fly out and drink the beer. In your third year ... yeah you guessed it.
Once something plopped into a friend's beer. We looked up into the tree, to see a lizard scuttling away laughing. However long you've been in Africa, lizard shit is where everyone draws the line.

Al fresco dining sans wasps and flies I can deal with. yeah whatever...
Dull but interesting photos are my forte! I stick em in picasa and cheat around with them until I like what I see. Just a little pointandshoot, me and an infinite supply of film. Bliss.
Cream, only when its really wet and windy do I sit in the car. But being the country sort of lass that i am, I insist on having the roof down!!!!!
Akela (I hope you don't mind your name being shortened.... I have an aunt called Akela..) I am so happy with the camera that I recommended it to the hotel manager, who is a tourism colleague.
Fathorse, I have used Picasa in the past and it is really a great tool. Wasps would definitely be a killer to an al fresco party!

I miss Spain and eating al fresco and I miss PROPER tapas - but that is not to be at present.
I still turn the DVD on of sunnier climes, and prepare Ensalada Murciana (tomatoes, tuna, eggs, olive oil etc) and enjoy, pretending not to hear the wind and the rain outside.
Guess who's going there next week and I am not talking of Daffers...
Chorizo al vino tinto...Fabada Asturiana...Pulpo a la Gallega...Chipirones... hahaha...
I prefer it to au naturel mainly because of hot drippy sauces.
We eat outside for the first couple of weeks and then the mosquitos become intolerable by June.
After seven months of Winter we do Everything possible out of doors, believe me!

It's great when you find a camera you are happy with, MWM must have had about 10 before the one he uses now!
I love it - one of my requirements for our house move was room to eat outside, even breakfast is great outside when it's warm, best way to start the day...honey, greek yoghurt , good coffee and sunshine on your face!

Nothing like breakfast al fresco to start the day. But then, if you have that you're bound to want a holiday.
