A series of anecdotes with or without any connection to the running of a restaurant.

Human bin...

I sit in my office, surfing the internet, doing bits of work, doodling, faxing, pretending to work, telephoning, paying suppliers...

And then a member of staff comes in bearing gifts...
"This was a mistake! Would you like it?"
Who am I to refuse food or drink?
The total sum of these mistakes is extra pounds.

The gym has become so boring on my own.
So I started swimming. But I stink of chlorine for the rest of the day.
Customers will ask: "Have you been bleaching tripe?"

Now, I have come up with the ideal form of exercise! Walking...

You see, my restaurants are placed in a triangle around the Marina.
So I have decided to park my car outside the Tapas Bar then walk to the other restaurants. Seven minutes one way and four the other. I started this routine three days ago and I am really enjoying it.

On occasions my walk wobbles a bit due maybe to an unplanned Mojito stop at the Tapas Bar.
I sometimes stop and snap the moored yachts.

Ah... I wish the restaurants were somewhere on the Med... Notice the imaginary palm?

What a great idea, but yes the Med would be better! :) Happy exercising.

Sounds like a plan. I have to change it up all the time. I must say I enjoy walking all year round though. (In good weather.)

Walking is great so is food and being happy with your self...therefor walk to stay fit, eat and make love to stay happy and feel great that you have two good legs that can walk. As an artist I love the softer rounder figure, male or female, enjoy life Cream, skinny restaurant owners are suspicious!

I use to love walking, but at the moment I can't and I really miss it. They do say walking on sand helps firm you up, so it looks like the med....

Akelamalu, exercising by the Med would be even better...

Mary, we do not have much good weather around here, so it's wrap up well and walk fast...

You're right Sarah but a FIT softer, rounder figure is much healthier. Being happy with oneself is very important.

Queenie, have you ever seen a plump life guard? I hope you can start walking again soon...

Your picture of the water is one of those look at it one way and there is a face and another way and there is a different expression or maybe djinni...

Walking in the sun is lovely!

I like reading your blog. And I love cooking. This week I did a couple of food illustrations. Maybe someday I can create a cookbook!

Oh, swimming is great! And there is some special soap you can use to get rid of the chlorine!

Walking is the BEST. Fresh air, and you meet people, see all sorts of things, and for some reason, it makes you all glad and happy and smiley.

I'm a big fan of swimming (especially in the mediterranean), but I get bored on my own and my gf doesn't do swimming, she's a jogger...

great plan, always a destination and a reason to go.

I always walk on vacation - some gain weight, I inevitably lose. If I went on permanent vacation I'd be in fabulous shape, LOL!

Good walking, Cream!
Maybe you should open a restaurant in Vienna? Ever since I moved to Vienna, I walk without ever having to think about it, it comes naturally. Yesterday evening I had an errand to run, and the sun was just at the point of setting down and illuminating the city with a golden glow, I decided to walk around an enjoy myself, and voila', another hour and a half of walking added. And I got the pictures to proof it. ;-)

Scott, I like your snapped asparagus... A cookbook would be great!
Thanks for the tip about soap.

Gigi, you're right about meeting people. I am forever saying Hi... and it does make feel good.

Ah, well, Marcos, you'll have to start jogging along in your swimsuit, then...

Hayden, what a fabulous idea! Permanent holiday!

Merisi, you are lucky to walk around among such splendour. I saw your photos and they are great!

Sounds like a good plan well executed to me (although obv the Med would be preferable).

Not much of an exerciser myself (well, not exactly *winks*) but by my reckoning it should take you under 20 minutes to do the full triangle - therefore by definition you are walking pass a Tapas bar every 20 minutes - just close your eyes and think you're in the Med.

Goth, if I had drawn a right angle triangle I would've said I don't do the Hypothenuse.
But your math is right!
Pythagoras would've worked out at around 18 minutes. And a 2min break for a Mojito would take it to 20min.

A dog is a great excuse to go for a walk! Blogs that post food should only be online after dinner! ;o)

Lettie, your right, the smell is so hard to get rid of!
I'd love to have a treadmill in my office. I'd blog standing up.

I gasped when I read that you own a Tapas bar. Will you marry me? ;) Tapas is currently my absolute favourite cuisine. And the mention of a mojito made my mouth water.

Walking is fantastic exercise. I think you have a wonderful plan and I hope you stick with it for as long as it makes you happy. Do you listen to music while you walk? This helps me keep my pace.

Walking counts as exercise? Great! I spend a solid hour walking between bus stops every day. I guess that means I can drink more lattes!

Queenie, it's life, isn't it?

Anna, I love tapas too and Mojitos... And the worst thing about it is that I have to test everything!;o)
Are you after a second husband or a cook?
Music, that's a good idea! Maybe a waltz..

Mike, you are after all living in the coffee capital of the world!!!But do they not do buses between bus stops???

You should walk to each restaurant wearing a Sandwich Board advertising the next one..
that way you can write off walking as a business expense.
