Get up...Stand up...

When I was a kid I really fancied myself as a clown whenever the circus came to town!
And nowadays, whenever I go to the Edinburgh Fringe, I start dreaming of having my own stand-up act.
After all this festival started as a sideline to the main one and anyone who thought he or she could perform was welcome! to try his or her luck and dodge the rotten tomatoes if necessary!
Over the years, I have seen a few acts that would've been booed off stage, had it not been for the lack of a brave audience. But on the main, most have been passable with the exception of people like Hugh Grant, Rowan Atkinson, Eddie Izzard, David Schwimmer, Paul Merton, Billy Connolly, etc... who have made it to the big time!
And so, I have begun taking weekly guitar lessons and might incorporate some songs in my "show... "
As I haven't yet started on a script, I am open to (tongue in cheek) suggestions...
Daphnée once hinted at "The Naked Cheb"
Cheb, is a young Algerian Rai singer like Cheb Khaled...

Ooooh you must learn to ride the unicycle. That's what clowns do, isn't it. Guitar playing unicycle rider. Can't think of a good name for that. But I will.

Made a retour au bercail rather than I planned.

Nice to have you back, Hobbes. Thought you'd baled out of your beautiful island blog!

Gigi, I've still got them bongos! That's given me the idea of a one-man band!
I need some cymbals between my knees, now!

"they" were trying to get us to mingle more at a work social event yesterday, so when we introduced ourselves we were asked to tell a "fun fact" about ourselves. Bankers don't have many fun facts to share, and if they do they're afraid to tell. So when I introduced myself and said "the first job I had when I moved to SF was as a clown" people were choking on their beverages at every table! Funny/odd to get a laugh just from stating a simple fact...

Our comedy club started again last Monday night. We always have a slot for new-comers to the circuit so if you're serious, I'm sure I could get you a 5-minute slot to get you started.

Our audience are very kind even to the awful comic whose punchline was ' I'm bisexual. No, really, I am'. I'm still not sure whether he was trying to make us laught or hitting on the entire room at once.

Yes, I remember when I suggested one could use it to make a giant Paella if it was turned upside down! I may draw it one of these days, Trac!

Cherrybabe, first I'll have to buy myself that One Thousand and One Clean Jokes and pick a couple good ones. Do you think I should wait until everyone is drunk before telling them?

L, you have so much faith. The only thing is that I get bored very quickly and jump to the next thing...

Lettuce, I could get fit while telling jokes, eh!

Just make sure you take a video of your debut so you can post it here. (And I think the drawing would make a great original avatar -- the head part, I mean.)
