One year of blogging...

I have now been Blogging for a year!
Many things have happened over the last twelve months but most significant of all was the getting to “know” so many bloggers.

I discovered Vit’s blog on the BBC website just after the London Bombs in July 05. I was very interested in her digital art and even got myself a version of Painter 9. I have drawn a few things whenever the mood has taken me but not as much as I would have liked.

As I started visiting and commenting on Vit’s blog, other bloggers came to visit my blog and the first one was DCver from Portugal.

04 July, 2006 Daphnée (Belgium)
06 July, 2006 Dizzy (Jersey)

I "talk" to you all as if I know you as real friends. I have emailed many and many have emailed me.
A few of you have elected to remain anonymous (no photo) that is your prerogative.
I have made up a mental picture of you. For example, DCver, I imagine him tall, dark and handsome (I'm not gay, don't worry) as any Portuguese chemist would be. The rest of you have your photo on show and it is nice when reading comments, to associate your face with your thoughts.

As I said to Trac one day "one little comment on your blog can make all the difference!!"
And it is very true that most of us are just seeking an ear to listen to our Life and remind us that we aren't alone.

This year has taught me lots of things and most of all the determination to seek real happiness even at the detriment of a well-settled life. Though it was hard to make the change and still is hard, I have learnt to take one day at a time. Enjoy the good things that one single day offers me and tackle the problems the next day may bring.

At this moment in time I am happy for my blog to take over my life to some extent. The day I give up blogging will be the day when I'll have decided that I no longer need to.
But I have a feeling that by then I will find it very hard to "lose" all the "blogfriends" I have made on the
way.

How long have you been blogging and why do you do it?

Happy anniversary!

Glad you have no current plans to leave the blogosphere.

I've been blogging for nearly 7 months. Beginning with a particular need to keep in touch with friends and be supported by them, and to get some things off my chest - and continuing because I love the sense of connection, new friendships, writing, reading - and chest is clearing up nicely.

I started to blog because of your/my friend vit told me to do so it is a good way to get my pictures seen.
She says people in magazines just sit all day and read blogs(portugal)

Blimey Cream, I thought that was a suicide note the way it was going. Relieved you're not planning to go the way of the Hartlepool monkey. I've been blogging for nearly a year but before that it was just a website and before that a column in an in-house magazine writing similar pearls of wisdom. What I love about blogging is the interactive nature and the feedback from people like you and all my other imaginary friends. Joyeux blogiversaire, mon ami!

Lettuce, it's all about clear chests!

KG, yes I've always fancied myself as a writer but I have a long way to go!

Yes, Marjan, Vit has a lot to answer for! The links are all under "Friendlinks" on the sidebar.

Daphnée, the Hartlepool monkey was a French spy! I'm neither French nor a spy, ma chère!
Yes, I too went from news on the restaurants websites to this blog that's my own waffle!
And the feedback is VERY important even if our friends happen to be imaginary.

and honestly - blogging friends are really something, i've met a few people in real life and its funny how the "transition" from blog to real life is very smooth- cus we know already a lot of the stuff that's happening.

That was sweet Cream. I've been blogging 6 mos. now. I started after reading a friends and thought it looked fun. I had just entered a new phase in my life where I had decided to do things that make me happy. And so I did. And I found your blog when I searched the word mosaic.

Happy Blogaversary, Cream! I just passed the one year mark, too!.....but I didn't do it with such a great post as yours.
How did I start a blog?I discovered Illo Fri., and I would tell my son..." look at this! I could do this!)...never intending to, of course. I didn't even know how to begin...THEN..one day my son said, " Mom, come here...I've made you a blog and you ARE going to put your pictures on it!"
Sorry, Cream, but I'm one of those "faceless bloggers" (unless you count childhood photos). I've always been a little bashful. But, I wont mind if you pretend that I'm beautiful when you "put a face to my name" ;)

Was I really visitor #5??? I feel so special :D I went back and read my first comment--- I still haven't found a proper job!

I consider you a real friend Cream. Your words and pictures always seem to make me smile. Here's to another year!

Ale, it has flown! Yes, I think most bloggers open up more because it seems that they are writing a diary and that’s why when they meet the transition is very smooth… After the initial shock usually!

It is great that the word Mosaic has brought us “together”! Your mosaics are amazing! And your blog is SO interesting! Keep it up, Mary!

Janet, kids, who’d have them! Your son was right to get you to blog! Your drawings are so inspiring!
Do not worry about your anonymity, I imagine an Alabama Beauty Queen when I comment on your blog!

Viking, I remember you looking for a job and me telling you about my first job: kitchen porter! I hope your latest interview goes well, my friend! Thanks!

I've been blogging since Jan.05. Why? Just like Afotografia but not just for show them to people but to have feedback commenting errors I am making and etc. Like I said somewhere earlier. I used to be much against all this blogging stuff. Mostly because I thought these are just everyday crying in one's beer. After I bought camera, friend of mine has shown me some photoblogs which I found very interesting and day by day, post after post, I started reading other's blogs, not only these photo-related. I found that (even if someone lays some very personal stuff on readers) it is good on many levels - from learning other cultures, opening mind to just simple making friends. So, here I am!

I agree with shyha. It has been the same for me. What I have learned from other people via blogworld has been priceless, and not available in my unicultural community.
Your blog, cream, in particular, has been wonderful in that way. Your travels, pictures, stories, art, and life work has been an inspiration to me.
I see from your list that I found you on Dec. 20...four days after my birthday. I consider you a gift.

Happy blogiversary, Cream. You've made me laugh and think. You're one of my special blog pals...I think I told you this before, you remind me of my brothers.

Why do I blog? In a nutshell, to get stuff out from my head so the stuff doesn't bother me. And to tell the world about us here.

I never expected to meet such wonderful folks in the wide world out there.

All of you cheer me.

Happy Blog Day.

I feel like an old-timer. I started over 2 years ago, but nobody ever found me, and I didn't know how to reach out to people until Brian persisted with lots of great comments.

A few friends read it at first, just to make sure I hadn't died and been eaten by my cat I think. I've always had literary pretensions and it's the closest I'll ever get to fulfilling the dream.

I feel like you're a friend, Cream and it's only a matter of time before I end up in one of your restaurants, particularly if the Iron beat the Monkey Hangers this season. Bring it on!

You are right, Shyha, “from learning other cultures, opening mind to just simple making friends.” I think that is very apt!

Brian, I am glad you like my blog. It is me inside and out! And yes, the learning through perusing other people’s blog is priceless! The fact that I haven’t been able to comment on your blog or Mary’s is getting to me! Blogger has been a pain in the neck!

You are very correct, Gigi, so many wonderful people out there. I often wonder what my life would be like if I hadn’t started blogging. And thanks for adopting me!

Trac, it does seem like yonks! And you are a great friend! Mad, maybe but so interesting with it!

Cherrybabe, you write really well and your posts are so refreshing! Thanks for considering me a friend! I might drop you from my Xmas list if you trash us in the Cup but you’re still welcome up here any day!

Whew - that was a freak-out! I just came here from another favorite blog that was a "good-bye I'm outta' here" and when I saw the list I thought you were doing the same thing!

I've found through the years that various varieties of online friendships are just as "real" as the RT - each fills different needs/parts of our personalities. You are definately someone I consider a friend and a kindred soul in so many ways.

lets see - I don't know when I started blogging because it wasn't here, but I'm guessing something between 18-24 months.

I started because I have to spend time writing every day (to stay sane) and stayed because I'm fascinated by the many different people I've 'met.' It's a way to "chat with friends" at the end of a work day and unwind in a low-stress environment.

Happy Blogday to you! To blog or not to blog, that is the question! Tis a noble thing to do...

OK I'll stop being silly.

I have had a website for a long time and enjoyed it, and didn't feel a need to blog at all...until I twice ran into a blog called IF Friday... a friend of my son's convinced me I should try it, so last october I took the plunge. Intense. Immediate. People whirling and flocking like birds, corn in this field, apples in that tree... I offered my black walnuts...tasty, thank you very much...come fly with us,fly.... I think that was the most fun I have ever had in my life with people. Was it because I had found a group of like-minded artists and writers? I don't know, we all seemed to dip and dive about the same time.
One after another the birds dropped into waiting branches and the sky became much quieter.
...
I took a job that left no time for living, let alone blogging. Interesting experience, but, I like living too much, so I quit this month and I'm looking at the sky again. Any birds out there?

Well, Hayden I am honoured to be a friend and a kindred soul! The same goes for you! Forgive me for being ignorant but is the “RT” by the way? Retail Therapy? It is a blessing to “meet” like-minded people from all over the world. Just goes to prove that everyone has a story to tell. And you do write well by the way!

L, I am glad you’re back online. I think the birds keep coming back for more if every time they visit there are a few seeds to nibble on and share a bit of gossip! I have always liked your art and would love to see more of it.

Having trouble posting comments but will try again: RT is real time, I think it started as a gamer word to separate between created worlds and, well, real worlds.

And I'm think of how many people seem to open changes before/during/just after life changes, so I wonder if we do it as a way to begin to explore new parts of ourselves? I did a response post since it would have been too long a comment!

Go Cream Go!
I have been blogging since Feb 06 as a conditon of a court ordered
'sensitivity training' scheme dreamed up by my lawyer. This chance to reacquaint myself with my subjects was offered after my scheme to conquer Europe was discovered..merde!
My subsequent conviction and exile on Elba has become intolerably tedious and without blogging I fear that I would go stark raving mad!

While it is hard to tap out posts with one hand entrenched under my sash and my chapeau keeps knocking things off of my work station I am very excited to be a part of this wonderful fraternity.

Just between you and moi, I intend on escaping from Elba anyday now..HAHA..

Happy 1st Anniversary Cream!

I started after reading my dear friend Letty's blog. I thought it would be a good way to get my thoughts/worries/ideas/funnies out. Seems that I have clammed up a bit lately and need to come out of my shell.

I enjoyed reading blogs, even though I am not writing I am still reading.

I have enjoyed meeting like minded people; I have also enjoyed having a joke with strangers. he he!

Keep up the good blog.

I've been blogging for almost five years- since the beginning of 2002. I started my first blog to stay (somewhat) in touch with my lover -an older man who was going through a divorce- after my husband found out about my affair. I felt I could not maintain personal contact with my lover and stay married. But our breakup was ambiguous, neither of us has really said goodbye. My ex lover (if he is an EX lover) has recently started emailing me again. Now I have three blogs. The one that was his and another one which is an emotional mess of a diary (i recently started) and another that is more impersonal. I guess I feel that my blogs might help people in a similar situation if they happen along (which is not often). Take care.
