Sunny days and cold pizza...

I took these photos Friday evening! Today has been even warmer!

Our Casa del Mar terrace...

Arty Farty stuff....

I came to the UK at the age of 22 and have lived here longer than I did in Algeria. But I still long for the sun and the Med ...

When days like these manage to break through the grey monotony of the North East coast my heart skips a few beats....

On days like this I begin fancying chargrilled foods, salads, fresh fish, Rosé, ice cold lagers, long walks, a watermelon on a the beach, the sound of cicadas...

Tomorrow: BBQ for sure!

I know what you mean...in Britain we have WEATHER. Day after day of sunshine can get a bit monotonous sometimes. My parents lived in southern Spain for eight years, but they still went on about the winter nights being FREEZING...it's all relative.

The British seasons do have their merits. However, the winter does seem to have gone on beyond a joke this year! It's so lovely to see the sun at last. Enjoy your BBQ! What's happened to the rabbit food you said you were on? (I only ask because I'm now on that regime)

Lovely pics, I like the arty farty one.

But surely all the way up there, you shouldn't have expected Spring to arrive before now, should you?

We did a barbecue today and it was great. Well, sort of. Everyone was so pissed that things kept getting burnt and then people kept taking stuff off and not putting anything else on(not clothes, I mean food on the barbecue). Then the chap next door singed (how do you spell that - I don't mean he was singing - I mean he burnt) his beard. And so I got bits of burnt beard all over my halloumi cheese. Hah! Nothing like hairy cheese eh? It was so stupid it didn't care.

31 years though! That's a long time. I can never believe that I have lived here longer than I lived in Switzerland, can you?(not Switzerland obviously, Algeria I mean). I'm sure time went slower back then.

Rambler, winter nights in Spain or the Med for that matter are very cold! It always snows in Winter. But nothing beats Spring on the Med...
Rabbit food is still on the menu... Lots of salads...
But the BBQ will bring a welcome change!

L, there's an ugly building on the marina but I cropped and its reflection looks nice.
All the way up here, we are thankful for every little ray of sunshine you send us!

Kitty, sounds like my kind of BBQ but I wouldn't have been able to stand by the end of it let alone write such a funny comment! Hahaha

Nothing wrong with eating charred food when you've had a skinful!
Was it Demis who sang and singed his beard?

Yes, 31 years! Can't believe it! But I make sure my time still goes slow these days... No rush! Just enjoy every minute!
You are a hoot!

Was that it? One nice day = summer 2006? Where's the sun gone? Are you keeping it up there? can you send it south for 100 miles or so please. I've dug my shorts out of the back of the wardrobe and I would like an opportunity to wear them without gooseflesh xxx

I didn't grow up in a hot clime but my heart skips a beat, too, when the sun comes to stay for a bit. Do love the reflections in the bottom photo.

Yes, it started to rain when we sat down to lunch here. Still it had its advantage, in the confusion of moving everything indoors I managed to swap my almost empty wine glass for a full one!

Shame about your barbecue. Maybe next weekend?

Cherrybabe, that's it! We've had our summer! Two days of glorious sunshine and it's back to crappy weather! We're in the same boat!
As for your shorts, please do wear them and make us jealous!

Andrea, the sun does stuff to people! Good stuff!

Kitty, I had lunch with friends...Then we had lots of wine in the garden and trampoline madness... The rain came late and spoilt the day! I just have to drown my sorrows, now!

Wendz, love to invite you but it's such a long way! Thinking of you enjoying your tea....

Well Dorian GREY it sounds like you need your MEDs!

I find cloudy dreary grey blah weather intolerable and completely unacceptable. I would go absolutely bonkers without the Sunshine!

That being said,
(cue the Stones)..You can't always get what you want..

I like Kitty's swap of a wine glasses in the confusion!
Once the rain started... We pushed a disabled friend under the black poplar and started making a run for it... I stepped on a tube of suntan lotion...and covered him from head to toe...
He wasn't amused at all but on the other hand his bald head never got burnt once that Summer...

Tat, I am going with two friends, one of them Didier from Carcassonne...
One day, you never know I might come and check out your courgettes...;o)!

Trac, I don't cook on holiday! Didier's mam is making us Fish Soup, Cassoulet, Tarte aux Pommes and her famous gigantic cheese board. The menu has already been ordered.
One day, maybe, I'll cook for you and the gang...

Val, glad you can see the photos. Blogger has been very erratic lately!

Actually Cream, I had a dream in which I and my family (brother, sister, can't remember who else) were in a pub/restaurant - and you were there! Can't remember what you looked like, unfortunately.

Who's next on my list of bloggers to dream about?

I hope you're getting some of the sun we're having here this week too. I lived in Durham for about 6 years and know how COLD it can be up there.

L, you can dream on! I ain't doing any cooking! Today I had a bowlful of grated carrots with lemon dressing! That's all the cooking I'm doing!
Yes it quite nice and warm up here! Don't you miss Durham? I love it!

Wendz, that was as sharp as old, tangy crème fraiche...
