The Sage...

A weird glass building appeared a year ago in the Newcastle-Gateshead skyline.
It is called the The Sage after the Sage Accountancy Software who sponsors it.
I have been there to a Graduation and to a Jose Feliciano concert.

As it was being built, I was one of the sceptics..."What the hell is this?"
But now that it is up and running, I feel it has become a great landmark over the river Tyne.

It's weird and wonderful!! Love it. Gosh, I really should visit England again, look at all the new things happening. The one and only time I was there was in 1980.

Oh, remember the Sydney Opera House? They said it couldn't be built.

The new type of architecture that is being created is so unique isn't it? I love old buildings but I am liking the new stuff too! Look at the contrast of your pictures, your last post and this one. A perfect example!

Kind of echoes the Crystal Palace of 1851, a bit.

Val, you're right! These different kinds of architectures can co-exist but the mix has to be right!

Misty, Crystal Palace, eh! They were very advanced for their time!

Juliana, natives of Gateshead and Newcastle speak Geordie

It is a great city, nowadays! Love it!

Hobbes, just trying out my new cheap camera. Thanks.

The acoustics are amazing! The whole thing was well planned. Try clicking on the "Sage" link in the post, it will give you loads of details.

I love the actual image you've used here cream - did you play with the picture at all or just lucky with the odd light?

GG, I haven't been to many events there because most good things are on Fridays or Saturday nights when we work but I keep my fingers crossed. The Stylisticts, next Tuesday look like a good excuse to go back!

Caro, you hawkeye! I did play about with the sky a little. The big boat next to the Sage is the Tuxedo Princess, a popular night club.

La Dauphine, thanks for visiting. I am sure that there are even better things in the US! Here, they look impressive because the UK is so tiny!

Kingston Lass! That's a small world! Newcastle is a great place. Santana's or Francesca's in Jesmond?
I go there quite often, maybe 4-5 times a month. The Quayside is really great and quite a bit of it is now pedestrianised. The Bigg Market? You wild girl!
They don't call it the Party capital of GB for nowt!
Thanks for visiting!

I thought you'd know those two places. I know the owner of the first one, a Moroccan guy called Santana!
The Bigg Market and the Quayside are still as wild as ever!
It is nice to visit the old haunts!

Iluvnyc, I have to confess. I took this and a few other photos with the wrong setting. (Overexposure or something) and when I had a look at them on the computer, they were too bright. So I messed about with this one and this is the result.
And I really like it. Thanks.
